Black cotton soil, looked after.
Family land in central India. We grow seasonal vegetables for the local market on cover-cropped, no-till ground. No synthetic fertiliser, no pesticide, no herbicide. The soil does most of the work.
A few crops we hold to export grade, usually pulses or oilseeds depending on the season. Most of what we grow goes to people we'll see again next week.
Watch first, change second.
Most of what works on this land turned up by paying attention to what grew well already. The season sets the schedule; we follow.
What we grow.
Mostly for the neighbourhood. Some, when it's good enough, for further away.
Seasonal market
Vegetables, greens, and a few staples suited to central India's seasons. Picked, washed, and sold within the week. Mostly directly to neighbours.
Export-grade lots
When a season delivers, we set aside lots that are good enough to ship. Usually pulses or oilseeds, sometimes spices. If you source for that kind of market, write in and tell us what you need.

Short notes on the season. Things we planted, problems we ran into, occasional surprises. Not advice.
